Fiske’s Hoof & Hide Balm is also an effective liniment. It is very soothing for sprains or stiff muscles and joints in any animal – it’s very soothing, warms when it needs to, and cools when it must – with ingredients that relief pain and take out swelling – a great combination of ingredients that work together to heal and refresh. Fiske’s Hoof & Hide Balm also draws heat and soreness from the hoof after a workout and competition.

Fiske’s Hoof Oil is a wonderful daily conditioner in both dry or wet seasons. It helps prevent thrush as well as treats it if thrush has already developed. It conditions the hoof while oils and beeswax create a natural barrier keeping excess moisture out while allowing hoof to breathe – there is NO silicone in it to clog it up! In dry environments, Fiske’s hoof oil prevents cracks and keeps hoof moist, promotes circulation, flexibility and increases growth rate.
Ingredients
- Wintergreen – an excellent pain reliever and anti-inflammatory agent. It is also the provider for salicylic acid found in Aspirin and is believed to increase the speed of healing in skin disorders, and a natural moisturizer.
- Camphor – an anti inflammatory agent which reduces swelling and bruising in hoof and skin/wound areas. It relieves muscle aches and is also antiseptic and a natural insecticide.
- Eucalyptus with anti bacterial and anti fungal properties
- Pine tar – a known anti fungal agent
- Bees wax with not only anti-bacterial properties, but also forming a natural breathable and water repellent film for the area treated
- Mint oil crystals with anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, cooling and soothing
- Thyme oil crystals with anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties
- Contains no petroleum distillates
How to apply
Fiske’s is a one-step immediate-acting product. It eliminates the need for multiple products while reducing the application time and requirements. Both the liquid Fiske’s Hoof & Hide Balm and Fiske’s Skin & Wound Salve are for wound care, your choice comes down to which is easier to apply. Paint the wound with the brush application, apply the salve by gently massaging the product in to the area, or you can also pour Fiske’s Hoof & Hide Balm into a squeeze application bottle and address the wound by squeezing the balm directly into the wound.
Lightly wrap for protection, but leaving the wound exposed for oxygen to circulate is also recommended. Cleanse regularly with warm Epsom Salt and Water. The freshly harvested beeswax provides a breathable band-aid effect, allowing air to flow around the wound, and doubles as a natural topical antibiotic. Unlike traditional antiseptics and topical antibiotics it does not damage healthy tissue. Fiske’s tests ‘clean’ on competition animals as it contains no banned substances.
